Before Cyndi Lauper was a successful solo singer, she was a member of a rockabilly band called Blue Angel. The bands original line-up included Cyndi Lauper (vocals), John Turi (piano & sax), Marty Horne (guitar), Richie Macaluso (guitar), John Larson (bass) and Eddie Barbado (drums).
After a change in the line-up Blue Angel released their self titled debut in 1980 to rave reviews. Sadly, the album did not do well and the band disbanded.
Now, 31 years later, a original Blue Angel demo with the original line-up has surfaced online. The demo is “God Help Me…I Love Rock & Roll” and was written by Cyndi Lauper and John Turi in 1979 but was never released.
This is classic Blue Angel that shows what a strong voice Lauper has.
